When the Panel Runs Out of Room

Commercial panel upgrades are about the distribution side of your building, not the utility service coming in. Your incoming service might have plenty of headroom while the panel that actually feeds your equipment is full, undersized, or wired single-phase when the new machine on the floor needs three-phase. Adding a compressor, a new oven line, more workstations, or a bank of EV chargers means those loads have to land somewhere, and a maxed-out panel with no open slots leaves you stuck. Upgrading the panel and distribution gives your loads a home without touching the meter or waiting weeks on the power company.

We upgrade commercial panels and subpanels for shops, restaurants, offices, and light-industrial spaces across the Albany area. The calls usually come from an owner or a tenant improvement contractor who has been told the existing panel is at capacity, or from a business standing up equipment the building was never wired for. Sometimes the right move is a larger main panel, sometimes it is a dedicated subpanel for one wing or one machine, and sometimes it is converting distribution to three-phase for the equipment that requires it. We figure out which one solves your problem and size it for the loads you are actually adding.

Because this is distribution work rather than a service-entrance job, it is often faster and less disruptive than a full service upgrade. If your incoming service already has capacity, we can add slots and feeders without the utility scheduling that drags out bigger projects. When the service itself is the bottleneck, we will tell you that honestly and point you to the right scope instead of selling you a panel that will not fix the real ceiling.
